IGHT owned holiday cottages
May I float a suggestion to the forum and no doubt IGHT board. The holiday cottages always need repair and I believe create an ongoing headache for the IGHT board. The core role of IGHT is to look after the island and its residents. The IGHT owned rental properties take a big ongoing commitment from the board and the rental income will never cover the cost of maintenance. The holiday IGHT rental houses - 5 in total unless managed, cleaned and repaired by a good island team could be sold and left to a private entrepenour to worry about. The sale proceeds, I recommend are ring fenced and used to buy good sales of privately owned homes at a decent price. Or reduce some borrowings. The purchase of additional houses could be added to IGHT domestic marked rental pool of homes. A good example is the proposed sale of Tighhnavinish which is now a good price and could be two IGHT rental homes. Just a thought! Ian
